Finding Inner Balance: Journey to Enduring Well-Being
This 8-day course is for anyone seeking to find greater inner balance amidst the day-to-day turbulence of life and the accompanying uneasiness, stress, overwhelm, anxiety, frustration and other range of emotions that we often encounter.
Instead of trying to improve or change yourself, fix your feelings or change your life circumstances, this course will teach you how to shift your vantage point to discover the deep “well” of well-being that is already here.
Once you learn how to shift your vantage point, you gain access to this enduring well-being within that is part of your true nature, the essence of who you are.
When we learn to work with our more unpleasant feelings and how to meet and greet them from different viewing points – something transformative happens. What we discover is an innate capacity for ease, compassion and self-compassion, presence, perspective, balance and deep well-being even amidst the ups and downs of our life.
This course is based on my newest book You Don’t Have to Change to Change Everything: Six Ways to Shift Your Vantage Point, Stop Striving For Happy, and Find True Well-Being. I hope you’ll join me for this journey to learn and experience for yourself how to find inner balance and an unshakeable core of well-being.

This lesson provides a framework for the class, explaining how we can discover inner balance and deep well-being — not by trying to change our circumstances or “fix” ourselves, but by learning to shift our vantage point, to uncover our innate capacities, access our “well” of well-being and experience our true essence. We’ll end with a short meditation on shifting vantage points. (14 minutes)
In this lesson you’ll learn about our survival/protection system and our thriving/connection system, that give us very different resources to face challenges. You’ll learn about how, when we can access our newer operating system, we also unlock a treasure chest of inner resources to help meet our challenges in new ways. (14 minutes)
In lesson 3 we learn how we are wired to operate on “automatic pilot,” and how to use the tool of the flashlight to bring mindful awareness to our automatic, habitual patterns of stress. This awareness, so simple and yet not so easy, creates choice for us to respond in new ways. We end with a discussion about how this simple tool can help to rewire our brains to react to stress differently. (11:56 minutes)
In this lesson we take a deeper dive into working with the anchor view. You’ll have an opportunity to experience some practices that will help to bring balance to your nervous system, and ones that you can bring forward into your week. (17 minutes)
This lesson introduces our second shift of vantage point: the Mirror View. You’ll learn about why this mirror view can be so transformative, helping us shift from “hole self” to “Whole Self”. We’ll end with a meditation so you can experience this for yourself. (15 minutes)
This lesson offers an introduction to using the tool of “the flashlight”. You will learn about the power of the flashlight (a metaphor for mindful awareness) to help you see clearly when any of the mental habits are arising. You will learn how, when you are the one observing what is occurring in the light of the flashlight, it shifts your relationship to what is happening and creates possibilities that weren’t there before. (13:44 minutes)
In this lesson you’ll learn about the third shift in vantage point, the Compassionate Parent View. You’ll have a chance to experience a short meditation to awaken your inner capacity for compassion and self-compassion and learn how powerful this vantage point can be for transforming difficult emotions. (14 minutes)
In this final lesson you’ll have a chance to engage in several practices to deepen your experience of the compassionate parent view. We’ll review the three shifts in vantage point so that you can bring all of these tools and practices into your life, to find inner balance and enduring well-being no matter what you encounter on your path. (17 minutes)
